Skiing in Big Sky, Montana – do I really live here?
Grand Opening of Ramcharger Eight Person Bubble Lift
After a day on the slopes in Big Sky, I did NOT need to remind myself what an amazing place I live in. Big Sky Resort is one of the biggest ski resorts in North America at 5800+ ski-able acres – only behind Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia (8171 ski-able acres) and the combination of Park City and Canyons in Utah at 7300 ski-able acres. And Big Sky is now working hard on infrastructure also. They just added an eight – yes eight person bubble chair named Ramcharger with seat heaters and protection from the elements- not exactly roughing it but ooh so nice riding up the mountain. Capacity of the Ramcharger is 3600 skiers per hour – seldom is this needed, as Big Sky is famous for it’s LACK of lift lines – some days you feel like you own the place! I had a Forrest Gump moment on December 15th – I was the fifth chair up the mountain for the grand opening of this amazing lift. Just dumb luck when my ‘bud’ showed up and texted me to meet at Ramcharger. The entire ski patrol staff was on at the top of the lift waving at us – must have been 100 plus red jackets. I was so dazzled – I missed the picture! It was just one more reason why I am so sold on living in this amazing place. I call Bozeman my home but Big Sky is just down the road along with Yellowstone Park and so much more. We are surrounded by trails, blue ribbon fly streams, white water, mountain biking, snow shoeing – if you like to be outside, we have it all.
It might just be time for you to visit or better yet, find your Bozeman or Big Sky home. See you in the Big Sky Country.
